Sony Xperia finally released their Android 5.1.1 new build 23.4.A.0.580 that comes with Stagefright bug fix. The update, for now, is with Xperia Z3, Z3 Compact and Z2, but it is expected that other models will have get the update very soon.

The fix, according to IB Times, is based on Android Lollipop version 5.1.1 and the build number was increased at 23.4.A.0.580 from 546. As of this time, the firmware is now live for Xperia Z3 (D6603), Z3 Compact (D5803) and Z2 (D6503) in Austria and Vodafone carriers in the UK and Spain, the news website added.

The patch will need at least 2.6MB in space and all of the 35 libstagefright libraries to the latest version from the Stock Sony 23.4.A.0.580 ROM, Tech Frag reported. Sony received the news from Google last week and didn't spend a second to roll it out to their users in order to prevent the virus to spread violently, the technical website points out.

In a report by Yahoo, a forum member who tried the update noted that the patch will basically work on all Sony Z series that are currently running on 5.1.1 Lollipop and for newer Sony models which share the same library.

The forum member named Manipars also added that he/she tested the update and flashed it on his/her device and confirmed that the Stagefright Vulnerability was fixed. Stagefright Hack was discovered by a security analyst from Zimperium.

He noticed the flaw from Android which will allow the hack to penetrate any android phone by simply sending an MMS. The MMS will be automatically downloaded and opened by the device which will basically open the door for the hackers to penetrate the phone and hack all the information stored in it.

Any device with the hack will be a Trojan horse virtually, because no one can detect, on plain sight, that the phone is infected. The hackers can easily camouflage their presence inside or erase all traces of the hack once they are inside the device.

Hackers can also access the device's microphone and record all conversations to potentially get vital information from their target.

The Stagefright Hack has been violently shaking the android world due to its potential destruction. But with relentless efforts from Google and their partners, like Sony and the release of the Android 5.1.1 Latest Build for Xperia Z3, Z3 Compact and Z2, the threat will eventually die down, hopefully.
