Xiaomi rumored to build own ARM based chips: ARM Executive admits negotiation with a Chinese EOM

Xiaomi will reportedly build its own ARM based chips in order to make its device worth-competing against the major smartphone products in the US. The executive of ARM have negotiated a licensing deal with the major Chinese EOM pertaining to the chipset course.  

According to techtimes, Xiaomi have gathered necessary ARM licenses to begin the production of the custom-design chips next year. The decision was a great push to reach the highly competitive smartphone market, as it would prove its capabilities to produce sturdy smartphone devices in five years that seemingly hit the excellent sales every year. Xiaomi used to buy chipsets in Qualcomm and/or Mediatek. Hopefully, it is on the move to design its own processor by next year.

The advantages of custom-design chipset had favored a great deal to the company. Customization is capable to grasp a complete control over its design intended to its smartphone devices. It allows to extend the handsets fullest potential and the users experience. Aside of that, it can reduce the expenses that will cost in the manufacturing.

Xiaomi almost conquer the massive part of the market in China. As it begin to sell its products in the US, the interview of Hugo Barra (Vice-President of International for Xiaomi in Bloomberg) indicates that the company has set its priority in certification and buying patents for its own portfolio of custom chipset course. Based on digitimes report, the custom chipset will be based to ARM, so selling its smartphone in the US would not last at least 12 months.

As reported by eweek, the executive of ARM admits they have negotiated a licensing deal with the major Chinese EOM pertaining to the chipset course. Moreover, some reports also claim that Xiaomi hired the Qualcomm-China's former President Wang Xiang to support the company in reaching its goal of having custom chipset. 

Xiaomi aims to expand its sales globally, wherein it already spread its market to the countries outside China. The company gave an assertive affirmation towards global ambitions, since Xiaomi reportedly to build own ARM based chips.
