In order for Google to get rid of possible liabilities if in case their robot cars will be in trouble, the California-based giant created a separate company to handle the production and development of the car.

Value Walk noted that according to Public records which they acquired through the Public Records Act in California, Google's robot car company is registered under Google Auto LLC headed which is headed by Chris Urmson. In order to exonerate the multi-billion dollar organization from any liability, the Google subsidiary was established in 2011 and since then was the sole responsible for the self-driving car ventures of Google.

Since the experiments commenced, Google used Lexus SUV's, which became a common sight on California highways. Also, Google recently added a smaller pod car for the self-driving robot cars.

At the start of the venture, Google used the Toyota Prius before deciding to move with the Lexus SUV, The Verge points out. In the acquired public documents, Google has so far registered 23 self-driven Lexus SUVs, including recently reported accidents, which involves the robot cars.

Aside from the bigger SUVs, Google is also using a smaller rear wheel drive vehicle(s), which is powered by a 20 - 30kW electric motor. The Verge also reported that Google started testing their cars on public roads in June. But as far as the report goes, owning one a robot driven car is still far from reality.

In related news, Google Inc. announced that the Google Fiber has finally arrived in San Antonio, Texas. This is Google Fiber's public debut since it was conceptualized a couple years ago, BidnessETC reported. The ultra-fast fiber optic network looks to embed an approximate 4,000 miles of cables throughout the area.

The service was also announced that it will provide the city an internet speed of up to 1,000 Mbps, the city's fastest internet service provider so far. During a TED conference, Urmson commented that self-driving cars will be a valuable addition to the society. He also said that, if and when the venture will be finally perfected, the most unreliable part of the car will be taken out, the driver.

Urmson also announced that they are currently in talks with car makers in order to bring Google's Robot Cars, under the banner Google Auto LLC, close to reality.
