Transformers 5 continues to be a work in progress and actor Mark Wahlberg said that he will be returning for the upcoming film. Wahlberg also hinted that director Michael Bay might return to direct while rumors have surfaced that actors from the previous instalments, Megan Fox and Shia LaBeouf might come back to reprise their roles.

Given the fourth film's box office success earning more than 1 billion from its 200 million budget, it shouldn't come as a surprise that a new installment for the Transformers franchise is currently in the works. While details are currently scarce as it is currently in its early stages of production, actor Mark Wahlberg revealed a sneak peek about the film's progress.

Wahlberg revealed that he will come back for the fifth instalment to reprise his role as Cade Yeager, as well as screenwriter Ehren Kruger. According to Vine Report, although it has not been confirmed yet, Wahlberg also said that Michael Bay might come back to direct  the upcoming instalment.

"I don't know the status of Transformers 5. Just that Akiva Goldsman and those guys are starting to write and break stories, and stuff like that. But Michael Bay is in Malta shooting Benghazi, and I'm in New Orleans shooting Deepwater. We'll get together when he gets back. Yes I think he'll direct it," he said.

Also reports suggest that actors Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox might come back in the upcoming movie. As for Fox, she reportedly said that she would like to work with LaBeouf again in a crossover as long as "things are good between everyone". However, according to Franchise Herald,  LaBeouf said that it is unlikely that he will be returning for the upcoming film.

"It would be good to do another film but I doubt with the new changes since the third film that Megan could return you know, it might be a love war if me or Rosie both return you know its not that i don't think about it," he explained. "But no, I highly doubt I'll be back for another one. I'll do another Michael Bay film but not Transformers." LaBeaouf said.

Meanwhile, according to Christian Today, although the official plot or synopsis for the film have not been revealed yet. The upcoming Transformer 5 will reportedly introduce new robots, and basing from the ending of "Age of Extinction", a new story is likely to begin.

Peter Cullen is expected to return in the upcoming Transformers 5 to voice the role of Optimus Prime. More details are also expected to be revealed in the coming months. Transformers 5 is said to be released in theaters sometime in 2017.
