Adam Driver's Kylo Ren will reportedly kill Harrison Ford's Han Solo in J.J. Abrams' upcoming "Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens" . The seventh installment of the epic space opera franchise is slated to open in cinemas on December 18.

Despite receiving mostly positive reviews, the "Star Wars" trilogy is still assessed negatively for its lack of dramatic stakes.  Apart from Obi-Wan Kenobi, the popular franchise has not really killed too many meaningful characters. Sure, a few unnamed X-Wing pilots and Bothans die in the films, and Yoda dies serenely. But outside of that, the franchise runs smoothly. The upcoming J.J. Abrams-helmed installment might change all of that as it will reportedly kill off one of the series' iconic characters.

Making Star Wars reports that Harrison Ford's Han Solo is going to die in "Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens". The outlet claims that Adam Driver's villainous Kylo Ren will be the one responsible for the character's tragic end. Finn (John Boyega), Rey (Daisy Ridley), Chewbacca and BB-8 who are reportedly present in the scene but are forced to leave due to lots of explosions and Stormtroopers. Han Solo is never in a scene after the said event.

Epicstream supports this speculation, saying that its source watched the specific scene while being shot at Greenham common airbase. Leia was reportedly heard saying "I don't know how he will cope without him". The site predicts that it may be Chewbacca or Han Solo that Leia was referring to. However, corresponding to the claims of Making Star Wars, it is likely to be the latter character as the former reportedly made it out when the explosions began.

"Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens"co- stars Lupita Nyong'o ("12 Years a Slave") Gwendoline Christie ("Game of Thrones"), Oscar Isaac ("Ex Machina") Carrie Fisher ("Wishful Thinking"), Andy Serkis ("Rise of the Planet Apes"), and  Peter Mayhew.  Directed by J.J. Abrams, it is scheduled to premiere on December 18.
