'Bill and Ted 3', the yet untitled follow-up to the first film 'Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure' and the second called 'Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey', is said to be in the works. The slacker duo will be back for the third time with the reunion of actors Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves on the big screen as Bill Preston and Ted Logan, respectively.

The idea of 'Bill and ted 3' surfaced back in 2010 but fans have not heard much about it since then. In an interview last April 9 with Games Radar, Reeves was asked about any updates on the planned film. He said, "Yeah, we're still trying and trying. We're trying... we're trying. We're closer but we're not there yet but we're trying." Audiences might have heard that update before in his older interviews.

In another report by IGN, it was just October of last year when Reeves revealed the status of the film rather vaguely. He said, "We're closer, but no closer... It's really amazing how that can work. We're like closer to the dough, but not closer. We're closer to the script but we're not closer... But we're still trying to get close to be... there." During a separate yet recent interview, the 'John Wick' actor announced, "There's now talk of contracts and maybe paying the writers to go and write. There might be some support for making the picture."

When asked about how the third movie might pan out, he said that there will always be a sense of travel because of the fictitious time machine.

According to Yahoo! Movies, even actor-turned-filmmaker Winter had some news to add to the table. He said, "We're really close. We're just about there... It's really been us driving the whole thing, me and Keanu and [writers] Chris [Matheson] and Ed [Solomon]. So we're producing it and we're actively trying to get it made. We're not tired of it, but I think for our fans, we are eager to stop talking about and actually shoot the damn thing."

The film followed the story of two slacker friends who traveled in time by means of a telephone booth. They managed to gather up a group of historical figures including Joan of Arc, Sigmund Freud, and Napoleon Bonaparte to take back to the 20th century to help them for a class report. In 1991, the sequel was released. DC Comics produced a tie-in comic after the first movie while Marvel Comics dedicated a 12-issue comic book series based on the franchise.

'Bill and Ted 3' is part of the franchise which spawned television spin-offs and animated series. The first in the science-fiction buddy film series was released in 1989 and is now considered a cult classic.
