'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' is the second film in the superhero team series. Director James Gunn recently dropped more hints for the plot and clued fans in on the emotional aspect of the movie. Star in lead role Chris Pratt also cried after learning the film's new story line.

In an interview with Collider, James Gunn revealed certain strong points on the direction the second film will be taking. At the 41st Annual Saturn Awards in Burbank, he revealed the different atmosphere for 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2'.

Gunn said, "I think it's a more emotional movie. It's both a bigger movie and a smaller movie more. We focus more intensely on some of the characters. We get to learn a lot about fathers in the second movie." This may be a hint towards a plot that centers on the character Peter Quill discovering more about his father.

To add to the speculations, Gunn also said in a separate podcast interview with 'Alison Rosen Is Your Best Friend' that the story for the sequel will not be based on the comic books.

According to Film Drunk, he revealed, "The story for Guardians 2 is an original story that I came up with that I started working on actually while I was shooting Guardians 1, and it'll answer some of the questions that were put forth in the first movie about Peter Quill's father and who he is and what's going on with that.... We're going to meet a couple of new characters who will be very important to Guardians movies and probably important to the Marvel Universe as a whole."

Pratt, who will reprise his role as Peter Quill a.k.a. Star Lord, also talked about how touched he was after learning about the potential plot line from Gunn. In an interview with Digital Spy, he commented, "What I will say is that [Gunn's] pitch and his ideas legitimately put tears in my eyes. It is so good, it's so good."

'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' is set to premiere in theaters on May 5, 2017. The first film in the franchise earned $774 million in the box office against a $195 million budget, according to Box Office Mojo. The upcoming film is based on the Marvel Comics team of the same name and is the 15th installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). It is the third on MCU's Phase Three. The original cast is said to return including Chris Pratt, Bradley Cooper, Dave Bautista, Michael Rooker, Vin Diesel, and Zoe Saldana.
