iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are housing a 32 GB storage before it hits shelves in September 2015. This new report has been confirmed by sources of a Chinese tech site.

Although siting the sources in anonymity, Made in China reported that Apple is indeed starting at a new base storage of 32 GB for the next iPhone devices. Apple however has not released a statement until now to confirm the veracity of the report why the Cupertino giant has to drop the 16 GB and amp it up double.

Made in China clarified that the sources are workers at Apple's Taiwan-based manufacturing partner Foxconn who said that the "packaging for the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus does not indicate a 16 GB storage." According to the tipsters, the site wrote, iPhones' box stickers say 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB.

Last month, a South Korean news website already hinted the possibility of Apple dropping the 16 GB storage for the next iPhone device. It reported first that Apple is on the brink of closing a deal with Samsung to provide its planned higher memory capacity for iPhones.

iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus predecessor iPhone 6 uses NAND memory chips produced by Toshiba, SK Hynix and SanDisk, cutting ties with Samsung due to expensive memory chip deal.

Currently, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus house built-in storage of 16 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB. The iOS 8 alone eats up about 20 percent of the memory which means around 13 GB will only be available for owners to store up their apps, photos, music and other files.

Apple Senior VP of Marketing Phil Schiller previously stressed why the tech titan stuck to 16 GB is because of iCloud which he believed is a wise storage service. "That perhaps the most price-conscious customers are able to live in an environment where they don't need lots of local storage because these services are lightening the load," he said.

Aside from the killer 32 GB built-in storage, Apple is also expected to power up iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus' other specifications by using an A9 processor, Force Touch, 12 MP rear camera, NFC, 2 GB RAM, and a better LTE modem.

If the 32 GB storage is true after all, iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus might cost prospect buyers an extra $100.

iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are slated to be introduced to public on September 18 and will be available on the 25th.
