The "Spider-Man" trilogy director Sam Raimi has finally spoken about Marvel and Sony's upcoming reboot, saying he has "a lot of faith" in the studios' new take on the superhero film. The movie featuring "The Impossible" actor Tom Holland as the new Peter Parker, is slated to open in cinemas on July 2017.

While some of the fans are skeptical about Marvel and Sony's remake of the webslinging superhero, the original trilogy's director Sam Raimi says he has a lot faith in their new take on "Spider-Man". Speaking with MTV in a discussion about the TV series "Ash vs. Evil Dead", he expressed his enthusiasm in the upcoming movie, saying that taking back Peter Parker to high school will be "refreshing".

"I'm really glad Marvel's taking it to high school. I think that's gonna be refreshing, and just like my favourite of the Spider-Man comic books," said Raimi. "And I have a lot of faith that they really know their stuff." According to the 55-year-old director, he is looking forward to see Peter Parker's difficulty in going through high school -something he described as what his character is mainly all about.

According to  Slashfilm, Raimi has also praised Marc Webb's "Amazing Spider-Man" franchise saying it was "great". He even admitted that he loved the director's 2012 film.

Marvel and Sony's "Spider-Man" reboot will be penned by "Vacation" writers John Francis Daley and Jonathan M Goldstein, with "Cop Car" helmer Jon Wats as its director. As previously reported, it will star "The Impossible" actor Tom Holland as the latest version of the wisecracking webslinger.

The new Spider-Man is slated to make his big screen debut in next year's "Captain America: Civil War", before getting his own standalone film on July 28, 2017.
