SEGA and game developer The Creative Assembly released a new trailer for "Total War: Warhammer" which features an in-game snap of a bloody battle between men and monsters. A developer walkthrough will also be released on July 30.

The in-engine trailer was released on Friday, July 17 and shows Emperor Karl Franz leading his men during the "Battle of Black Fire Pass."  The massive and bloody battle shown in the "Total War: Warhammer" clip was the same battle shown during the E3 conference, reported Polygon

The trailer starts off with a quick note from game developers that the clips was an in-engine video.  According to Cinema Blend, in-engine means that the "game is running natively within the game engine."  The site further explained that no external software measure was used to render the game and that the game can run on a computer with the impressive graphic quality shown in the trailer.

Cinema Blend also enumerated the reason as to why the latest released trailer is not a pre-rendered CG clip.  First thing the site noted was the way Emperor Karl Franz's cape was swaying as he walked. The trailer showed the specific areas where the cape supposedly bends to mimic the illusion of it fluttering in the wind.  If compared against other CG trailer gamers, such movements would be handled by a soft-physics cloth simulation, whereas the rendering done in "Total War: Warhammer" for Franz's cape does not depict the same soft and flowing movement.

Another item cited by the site is the play of reflections and shadows that were used during previous "Total War" games.  Although one big change in "Total War: Warhammer" is the use of post-processing effects that alludes to the illusion of players seeing a pre-rendered CG.

Meanwhile, the trailer is rather impressive, showing off massive damage and the carnage of monsters, magicks and men.  Whilst most army type battles games would offer bonuses based on tactical archetypes, states PC Gamer, "Total War: Warhammer" is focused on the abilities and make-up of each factions.

The game "Total War: Warhammer" is a combination of the game strategy from the "Total War" franchise and the lore of Games Workshop's "Warhammer."  Game developer The Creative Assembly is reportedly developing the game for Linux, Mac and Windows PC.

Gamers who are curious about the game will have to wait until July 30 when Creative Assembly is set to release a developer walkthrough of the "Battle of Black Fire Pass."
