December is near and this can only mean one thing: full speed ahead for the widely anticipated 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' film under the direction of J. J. Abrams. As much as fans all over the world would love to know what the new film has in store for them, key details are still yet to be confirmed. However, there have been reports of Han Solo's backstory in the film as well as numerous speculations about a possible new character.

The new film is set to explore the story after the events of 'Episode VI: Return of the Jedi'. Making Star Wars reveals certain aspects of Han Solo's backstory which will make its way in the new installment. According to their source, Chewbacca owes Han Solo his life after he is freed from his slavery in the aftermath of 'Revenge of the Sith'.

Also, both are said to be living miserable, bitter lives just before events in the new film take place. In addition to that, the duo lost control of their ship, the Millennium Falcon, but regained it shortly afterwards. There are also thugs referred to as Ducain and the Irving Boys hunting down Han Solo.

According to Inquisitr, several rumors also point to the newcomers as Han Solo and Princess Leia's children but these are still yet to be confirmed.

The newly released behind-the-scenes featurette showed recently in Comic Con teased audiences with new alien characters. Even LEGO caused some stir when it released a couple of sets with new vehicles and a particular unknown character named Tasu Leech, according to Slash Film. Questions linger on whether he will play a part in an action sequence.

It is the seventh installment in the 'Star Wars' film series starring a massive and star-studded cast including Gwendoline Christie, John Boyega, Adam Driver and Daisy Ridley as well as returning cast members Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill reprising their famous roles as Han Solo, Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker respectively.

The film will be the first release in the planned third 'Star Wars' trilogy after the Walt Disney Company's procurement of Lucasfilm back in 2012. Star Wars creator George Lucas serves as creative consultant for the film series. 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' will debut in theaters on December 18, 2015.
