With the announced Spider-Man reboot and the possibility of the web-slinging hero joining the Avengers, the chance for fans to watch Spidey's six notorious villains in Sinister Six was scrapped altogether. However, before it was officially scratched out of the list, emails were leaked containing what were rumored to be plans for the film.

Director Drew Goddard voted himself out of movie Daredevil in order to write and direct Sony's Sinister Six. Before the movie was cancelled, Goddard reportedly had initial plans for the film's characters, setting, and even actors to play for the role which were spilled in leaked emails that swirled online.

According to the emails, the notorious six villains to star in the film would have been Doctor Octopus, the Vulture, Sandman, Mysterio, Black Cat, and Spider-Man himself. In the movie, Doctor Ock would have been the character that fans would have rooted for but still end up as Spider-Man's rival, just like the character of Michael Corleone in The Godfather Trilogy.

The actors who were considered for Doctor Ock were Matthew McConaughey, Sean Penn, Denzel Washington, Colin Firth, Will Smith, George Clooney, and Daniel Craig. Matt Damon was also said to be on the list of actors considered for the role but only if Spider-Man wasn't the sixth member of the group.

Meanwhile, Tom Hardy would have played Sandman as he was the strongest choice for the role. In the email, Goddard even wrote about how he would approach Goddard and how he will pitch the film to him.

Aside from that, there were plans of setting the film in the Savage Land, although, it would have caused complications since it was not part of the X-Men grant. Savage Land is a fictional region located in Antartica which is said to be created by an alien race called Nuwali, 200 million years ago. In the comics, the island serves as the home of another Marvel hero named Ka-Zar.

Now that a reboot had been announced for Spider-Man, it seems like neither of the six baddies will appear in the big screen since Marvel President Kevin Feige revealed that new villains are to be introduced in the movie. Spider-Man will be played by 19 year old actor, Tom Holland.

Although Sinister Six might not be featured in the MCU soon, Marvel must have a better idea of how to take the fans into the crazy world of the young Peter Parker in the upcoming Spider-Man reboot. The reboot is said to focus on Parker who tries to juggle his life as a teenager and manage his superpowers. It is set to be released in July 28, 2017.
