'Empire' Season 2 Casting Update: Kelly Rowland Joins The Upcoming Season, 10 More Guest Stars Added To The List
"Empire" Season 2 is said to be adding another character and it will be played by the former Destiny's Child member, Kelly Rowland. According to reports, she will be teaming up with Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson as the mother of the former.
Kelly Rowland joining the cast does not come as a surprise as she was a former X-factor judge and has acted on music-related movies and shows such as "American Dreams," "Girlfriends," "Real Husbands of Hollywood," and "Single Ladies," Latin Post reported.
Rowland has joined "Empire" Season 2 after it was announced that Alicia Keys, Chris Rock, Lenny Kravitz and Ne-Yo confirmed that they are on board for the upcoming episodes of the show, The Boom Box reported. Rowland is said to be playing the role of Lucious Lyon's mother, played by Terrence Howard.
In "Empire" Season 1, Lyon kept getting flashbacks of his childhood so the upcoming season will be featuring a figure form his past. No details have been released about what kind of mother Rowland will be playing or how long she will be in the show. It also remains to be unknown when exactly will Rowland's character be introduced in the show and if her character will be a mainstay.
The news about Rowland joining the show came after a month when rumors first circulated that she was joining the show's cast. A photo of her with the writers of the show made rounds online as it was tweeted on the Twitter page of "Empire" alongside the caption that reads: "Hey, @KELLYROWLAND! Thank you for spending some time with the #Empire writers."
IBTimes also reported that other possible stars to make it on "Empire" Season 2 are Oprah Winfrey, Eminem, Ta'Rhonda Jones, Gabourey Sidibe, Adam Rodriguez, Common, and Marisa Tomei.
The FOX hit show will be coming back to the small screen on September 23. Who else would you like to see on "Empire" Season 2? Let us know in the comments below!
