At the relaunch of PrePlay Inc's MLB PrePlay v2.0 for Android and iOS, the company announced the closure of their Series B Financing at US$4.7million. This is considered a success for the firm in its quest to become market leader.

The lead investor was Trilogy Equity Partners, LLC,  joined by RSE Ventures, a venture capital fund founded by owners of Miami Dolphins Matt Higgins and Stephen Ross. PrePlay will be using the new funding to expand the teams of Android, RubyonRails and native iOS that would be handling the development of other sports games. Included in their plan is to make sure their advertisements are more catchy to increase their sales and platform licensing business.

Andrew Daines, CEO of PrePlay commented, "We think the whole social TV, second-screen business is upside down. It's currently dominated by generic one-size-fits-all check-in apps and by TV programmers who want you to watch their shows, but have no feeling for games, no feeling for great mobile product. We fit into the category of 'second-screen', but we're tackling the problem of engagement from a mobile-first, gaming perspective. We care deeply about creating rich, high-quality game experiences, and believe TV tune-in and engagement with content and brands flow naturally from there."
