Yahoo To Take Controlling Stake in Dailymotion

One of the Internet world's most popular video websites Dailymotion is now in discussion with Yahoo Inc. This deal, once it pushes through, may become one of the largest ones to date by Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer since taking over leadership duties last July.

The discussions was first reported by the Wall Street Journal and according to anonymous sources, Yahoo could take as much as 75% of Dailymotion. Currently, the video website is owned by France Telecom-Orange, a French telecommunications firm. The site is valued at around US$300 million and the deal is still subject to many factors. This is the latest in many start-ups that Yahoo has been acquiring under the leadership of Mayer.

In a statement, Dailymotion Managing Director Roland Hamilton said through an email, "We are unable to confirm, deny or comment on speculation regarding potential talks between Yahoo and Orange at
