It's confirmed. The Nintendo NX will not be revealed at the 2015 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) happening in Los Angeles, California on 16-18 June.

"We have confirmed that any new information about NX will be announced in 2016. I hope you will understand that if you expect us to discuss [Nintendo NX] during the upcoming E3 show, you will just end up being disappointed," Nintendo CEO Saturo Iwata said.

Iwata did, however, provide a little more information about the Nintendo NX.

The Nintendo head honcho mentioned that they made an early announcement on the Nintendo NX to reiterate that the company is indeed developing a new console and prove that it never lost the drive to create new prospects for their customers. However, he will no longer divulge any other information regarding the company's partnership and efforts with DeNA.

"Though I cannot confirm when it will be launched or any other details of the system, since I have confirmed that it will be 'a dedicated video game platform with a brand new concept,' it should mean that we do not intend it to become a simple 'replacement' for Nintendo 3DS or Wii U," Iwata continued.

"Since we are always thinking about how to create a new platform that will be accepted by as many people around the world as possible, we would like to offer to them 'a dedicated video game platform with a brand new concept' by taking into consideration various factors, including the playing environments that differ by country. This is all that I can confirm today," he added.

The Japanese game console manufacturer was previously mum on the many speculations concerning the Nintendo NX's development and release schedule.

Nintendo is set to do a press conference set tentatively on the morning of 16 June to provide information on what the company will be presenting and exactly when at the E3 a few weeks away. Star Fox, Mario Maker and Yoshi's Wooly World, as well as possible DLC's for Super Smash Bros and Mario Kart, are all expected to be part of Nintendo's presentation.
