In an official statement, Repsol reiterated that there are no ongoing discussions with the government of Argentina as to the expropriation of the Spanish oil giant's share in Argentina's YPF company. The statement was made to the stock market regulator of Spain, saying "Repsol's board of directors denies the experience of any negotiation or any kind of offer."

A news report from Reuters said that Repsol shareholder Caixabank was discussing with Argentine government on the matter of compensation for the confiscated shareholdings. The Repsol official statement continued to say that it could not 'rule out unofficial contact between parties' but the oil company said it was not part of any discussions. Repsol did confirm that it was willing to find a compromise with the government and would be seeking full compensation for its expropriated shares.

The company has already lodged a complaint with the World Bank's ICSID. It added, "Repsol continues to calmly trust in the justice of the legal channels it has opened."
