Jem and the Holograms debuted the much-anticipated live-action adaptation of the popular 80's cult cartoon. The trailer, whiche debuted last May 12 was met with mixed reviews which went viral on all social media platforms.

Many of the fans of the popular Jem and the Holograms cartoon were quite vocal over their opinions regarding the trailer. The fans felt that there was a complete lack of rock music in the trailer, while some also noted the absence of Synergy and the other holograms.

Stefanie Scott of Insidious 3 fame was quick to come to the defense of the trailer. The star, who plays Kimber Benton in the movie felt the reactions of the fans were a 'bit unfounded' since she believed that the film was keeping up in the true spirit of the cartoon.

"I think that's why everybody needs to see it," Scott said. "There's so much that, why put it in the trailer when it could be a surprise, and actually warm your heart when you see it on film. I think it's more exciting when you get to see it in the movie and see all of the surprises rather than know what's coming. I think everybody's going to really appreciate everything that went into this movie and what happens onscreen, and how it was brought to life.

Producer Jason Blum also came tothe movie's defense, saying that there is more to the film than what meets the eye. The producer teased that the trailer might have been a bit misleading and that fans should not quickly dismiss the movie.

"It is a hundred per cent true to the spirit of Jem, like 100%, and I think that people will be very pleasantly surprised. So in that way it's good-maybe lowering expectations is good. But I think people will be pleasantly surprised for sure." Blum teased.

Scott also believes that she and her co-stars captured the real essence of the relationship between Jem and the Holograms. She added that was enough to draw audiences worldwide.

"It's a modern take on the show, but there's definitely a lot of throwback," Scott added. "And we have Molly Ringwald in the movie who is, you know, an '80s movie star. So it was really fun to have her in it, too."
