The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt is a very expansive game with many systems, mechanics and puzzles that some players may have difficulties in understanding or completing parts and parcels of them. Here we try to come up with a comprehensive one-stop shop for three aspects of the game.

Alchemy Guide

Once players get the foundation of Alchemy, Geralt will be much more powerful; he will have an easier time in clearing out enemies with the right potion and oils. Higher difficulty levels require Alchemy, so understanding the basics and locating the right flowers will make seemingly impossible tasks a breeze.

Alchemy is the same as weapons and armor crafting but it can be done anytime, anywhere. Some items needed for the mixture can be found through exploration, purchase, or mixture. A herballist will be the most convenient source of ingredients.

There are four types of Alchemy by-products. Bombs are items that can be used as grenades, with some combinations giving the extra effect of poison or silence (for mages). Oils are used for boosting Geralt's blades, and provide timed buffs for that weapon which makes it more effective against certain enemy types. Decoctions give Geralt himself either an offensive or defensive buff; while they're easy to craft, players should beware the toxicity level when using these. Potions are the most readily available concoction since having drinks will allow for their creation; standard healing, magic regeneration, night vision, extended underwater breath, and slow effect are some potions that can be made.

Magic Lamp Flame Puzzle Guide

This is one of the tricky environmental puzzles in the game. The Magic Lamp quest in Kiera Metz's flame puzzle is hard to solve for some players.

There are four statues with braziers sitting before them in a small room with a sealed doorway. These need to be lit in the proper order so that players can progress through the side quest. If one of the braziers is lit out of order then a wraith will appear for each one that is lit.

The proper order is as follows:

  • Statue standing with open arms and no dog (to the immediate right of the doorway)
  • Statue standing with instrument and no dog (to the immediate left of the doorway)
  • Statue standing with open arms and dog (to the far right of the doorway)
  • Statue standing with instrument and dog (to the far left of the doorway)

Viper School Gear Scavenger Hunt Guide

Completing the Scavenger Hunt: Viper School Gear gives players access to the diagrams to the Serpentine steel sword and the Serpentine silver sword. These two items are good to have in the early part of the game.

The silver sword diagram is found in the White Orchard Cemetery. Head to the Mill signpost north of the starting location. Head north to reach the cemetery. Use some Specter oil, then find the place of power right outside a large crypt. A Wraith will pop up; use the Yrden sign to slow it down and keep it from disappearing. It will retreat into the crypt; use the Aard sign on the door to blow it open. Walk down to the bottom of the crypt, and face off against the Wraith again to kill it. Search for a body near the back wall and take the silver sword diagram.

A bandit camp situated in a fort atop a small hill to the west of the Ransacked Village holds the steel sword diagram. Approach from the south and climb up the hill. Defeat the bandits then search for a large chest which contains the diagram. That will complete the quest.
