BH Media Group said it purchased the daily newspaper Tulsa World from the Lorton family for an unknown amount.

With 95,000 daily circulation, Tulsa World is published by the Lortons for more than a century. Robert Lorton Jr., chairman of Tulsa World's publisher World Publishing Co., said in a statement that the newspaper industry has seen difficulty in business as changes in society continue to affect newspapers that are family-owned.

The newspaper business has been hurt by the decreasing number of advertisers as readers shift to laptops, smartphones, iPads and other devices for news.

A subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway owned by American businessman Warren Buffett, BH Media operates over 60 daily and weekly newspapers particularly in small communities throughout the U.S. states including North Carolina, Virgina, Nebraska and Texas.
