Long-running tv show CSI: Crime Scene Investigation to end after not being included in CBS' list of renewed series.

According to Entertainment Weekly, CBS renewed  NCIS, The Good Wife, Criminal Minds, Blue Bloods, Hawaii Five-0, NCIS: Los Angeles, Elementary, Person of Interest, including CSI's spin off CSI: Cyber. Aside from the nine mentioned drama series that CBS renewed, they also included one comedy, and three reality series on the list.

The original CSI launched on 2000 and has been one of the top-ranking series. Over the years, CSI has gone through several changes, and even had a couple of spin off like CSI: Miami and CSI: New York, but all ended even before the original series did.

This news of cancellation is especially hard for CSI fans after the 2 hour finale of the 15th season of the show where one of its original characters, Nick Stokes played by George Eads, formally left the team to run a CSI lab in San Diego.

According to the National Report, the show's cancellation has been foreseen by the fans when CBS changed the show's schedule. CSI moved from being a Wednesday night weekly series, to the one shown on Sunday nights with fewer episodes. The show's new schedule also caused it to be interrupted by sports shows which didn't make the fans very happy.

The show's cancellation isn't about problems on the ratings. In  fact, according to Vulture, CSI's rating is actually  better compared to many other shows. Its cancellation is apparently due to the expensive production expenses, that urged the company to put it to an end.

Reports from several sources say that CBS is planning to end the show through a two-hour movie which will wrap things up for the show and its characters. Although the final announcement of the details as to how the show will end, has not been formally announced by CBS yet.
