The Originals Season 2 Finale ended on a rather quiet note. While many fans of The CW supernatural drama series expected the season to end on a high note, the season chose to end on a softer note. 

The Originals Season 2 Finale, entitled "Ashes to Ashes" was perhaps one of the most well-written The Originals episodes to date. The dramatic buildup to the big battle between the evil Aunt Dahlia and the Original Siblings over Baby Hope was one of the most intense scenes of the episode and caught many viewers off guard. 

It was revealed in The Originals Season 2 Spoilers that Klaus had finally figured out last week that the witch who was responsible for breaking Dahlia's heart was not Freya but their mother Esther. The siblings realized they had to resurrect their mother's body and use the blood as the final ingredient. 

The episode got even more intense when Klaus, Elijah and Rebekah sabotaged Davina's spell to resurrect Kol. It was revealed that the ancestors were only granting her the power for one try. Kol's ashes were switched out Esther's ashes, bringing Esther back to life much to the dismay of many fans who mourned when Kol was killed by Dahlia in the previous episode.

Davina was furious when she found out and vowed revenge on the Original siblings. It was an emotional scene when Esther apologized to Dahlia for abandoning her. Klaus then took both witches down, and both sisters died hugging each other. 

Before Dahlia was killed, she had only managed to destroy both dagger and white oak stake. This would mean that the Originals are now safe from any form of death.

Freya would then decide to do her sister a favor by healing Rebekah's witch body and performs a body swap for her. Rebekah, now human, places her Original body in a casket with her and leaves town after saying goodbye. She then vows to do all she can to figure out another way to bring Kol back. 

The Originals Season 3 will see the Mikaelson family being as divided as they are. While they promised to be siblings "always and forever", one cannot help but be nervous for what the next season brings.
