Sigma Corporation of America, the manufacturer and developer of the most impressive lenses, cameras and flashes has recently unveiled the Sigma Photo Pro 5.5 software. The software is an upgrade of the Sigma Photo Pro 5.4.

The newest version includes upgrades and updates for Mac and Windows platforms together with the new Monochrome Mode processing interface. This Monochrome mode also includes channel-mixing palette, allowing for finer control of red, green and blue levels in an image for an improved tone separation and contrast. There is also the grain palette feature that allows the increase or decrease in the size and strength of the grain within an image allowing for texture and dimensional depth similar to film photography.

These features work best with the Sigma camera Foveon sensor, especially the X3 image sensor technology causing image blur and color filter array to reduce image sharpness.  All these would be able to bring out the detail, clarity, contrast, sharpness and tonality of any black and white image.
