As a way to bid goodbye to Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey), Grey's Anatomy aired a two-hour special called "She's Leaving Home." Derek was killed in a car accident in the previous episode. Fans were upset; they never thought that the latest episode would also disappoint them after McDreamy was cut off in the show. While Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) was barely seen in the latest episode of the popular medical drama TV series, it was like the story has moved on fast.

At the start of the TV series Meredith Grey went to Grey Sloan Memorial to announce Derek's death. As expected, most of the doctors showed sadness and tears, except for Amelia who hid behind morbid jokes about her brother being dead. As soon as the funeral was over, Meredith went off with her two children and left only a note, saying they were safe and okay.

Everything happened so fast that Easter to Christmas went about 30 minutes, and in the long two hours, revealed Meredith was pregnant and also gave birth at the end of the episode.  Fans were nowhere in the middle of rage and grief. Some posted on Twitter with their dismayed reaction on the recent episode of the medical drama. "Shonda Rhimes has officially ruined a perfectly good show," one fan tweeted. Fans were expecting that the whole episode of Grey's Anatomy was about his friends and family grieving over his death. But then, it lacked the screen time for Derek's funeral.  Rhimes disappointed the viewers -again.

"The male lead of a show that has been on for eleven seasons has been killed off, yet a large amount of time is spent focused on other things, particularly since his death affects everyone, but this episode simply tries to do too much. And that's saying a lot, since it happens to be two-hours long," said Ashley Bissette Sumerel of TV Fanatic, who gave a mixed review on the show.

Still, many hoped that on its Part 2 it will be something that would make the fans watch Grey's Anatomy again.
