If fans couldn't wait to see the Batman-Superman standoff in the upcoming "Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice," they would get an earlier foretaste of the DC Comics heroes as Warner Bros. Home Video has released the teaser for its next direct-to-video flick "Justice League: Gods and Monsters." Fans could see alternate histories of the "Big Three" consisting Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman in this animated film.

As shown in the trailer, the animated film will be having an all new original story as Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment say in a press release that it will not be "your parents' Justice League." Going back to the previous direct-to-video films, last year's "Son of Batman" was based on storyline of "Batman and Son" and 2011's "The Flashpoint Paradox" was adapted from comic book crossover "Flashpoint." Meanwhile, this new direct-to-video pic wasn't based on any existing DC Comics storyline.

This new superhero film is all about novelty as it was based from the creative mind of Bruce Timm (Batman: The Animated Series, Justice League Unlimited). The plot offers an alternate reality as it combines the DC Universe with Greek myth. The twist is on the "Justice League" characters as Superman was not raised by the Kents in Smallville. He is the son of General Zod here and is a bit more violent, Nerd on the Rocks reports. This is because he has seen the cruelty of mankind, having been raised by migrate farmers.

On the other hand, the Batman in this world is not Bruce Wayne, but instead, it is Kirk Langstrom. He has cancer and in pursuit to find an antidote. At last having the "cure" or more likely the Bat-venom, he injects himself with it but unluckily turned him in a bat-like vampire creature. Knowing Kirk Langstrom, he became Man-Bat (the enemy of the real Batman we know), after exposing himself in an experiment. The serum in the experiment took away his intelligence and he became hideous and lunatic. While the Kirk Langstrom version of Batman in this new film can hold his sanity but, he feeds on criminals to alleviate his bloodlust.

Wonder Woman is also not an Amazon warrior of Themyscira. NOTR also says that she seems to be part of the "New Gods." She marries fellow New God Orion but comes back to earth after knowing that something goes wrong. Likewise, she is the spawn of Ares, the Greek God of War, another report says.

The supervillain Lex Luthor is also in the "Justice League: Gods and Monsters." But instead, he's not villain here and he doesn't seek power. Although, NOTR's report claims he's sucker for knowledge. He's more like Professor X from the "X-Men" films and is a genius.

This new direct-to-video DC Comics film is directed by Sam Liu (Batman: Year One). It includes a stellar cast such as Michael C. Hall (Dexter) as Batman, Benjamin Bratt (Law & Order, 24) as Superman, Paget Brewster (Criminal Minds) as Lois Lane, Tamara Taylor (Bones) as Wonder Woman, Jason Isaacs (Harry Potter films) as Lex Luthor and C. Thomas Howell (Southland) as Dr. Will Magnus.

"Justice League: Gods & Monsters" animated film is slated to release on July 28, 2015. It will be available on Blu-ray Deluxe Edition, Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD, and Digital HD.
