Bandai Namco Games' Tekken 7 has already made an appearance in the Evolution Championship Series in 2014. According to the Tekken website, the game will be powered with the UNREAL 4 engine.

Further announcements are expected on the San Diego Comic Con under the BANDAI NAMCO Fighting Game Panel within this year, currently set on July 25th.

Thanks to Katsuhiro Harada, Tekken's game director and executive producer, three characters already have trailers available to watch namely, Jin Kazama, Devil Jin, and Josie Rizal. The former two are familiar faces and still appear quite the same.

On the contrary, Josie Rizal is a complete newcomer as she is the first Filipina player, who is equipped with a kickboxing fighting style and eskrima. The latter pertains to a form of martial arts performed in the Philippines, which involves the use of a wooden stick weapon called "arnis."

Her character creates polarity among fans as her essence of being Filipino is somewhat questionable. The most apparent representation she carries would be the colors of her outfit, which has red, yellow, blue, and white, all of which are present in the Philippine flag.

Other than that, suggestions have simply been made. In a report on Gulf News, a fan hoped Josie Rizal to have a Filipino dub with expressions such as "Aray!" (ouch) when in combat.

Filipino website GMA News says that the country's National Commission for Culture and the Arts felt disappointment towards the character.

The site, according to Rouken at NeoGAF, quotes NCAA member Dr. Leodenito Cañete, "It's hard for us to prevent other countries from making characters like this because Philippines is very popular around the world."

Tekken 7 is already played in Japanese arcades. Players from the rest of the world are eager to get their hands on the game. They should stay posted for any news from Bandai Namco on when it will hit other platforms in different regions.
