'Hannibal' Season 3 Cast Update: The "Tooth Fairy" joins the show this June as the plot ripes into the Red Dragon

The Hobbit actor Richard Armitage is slated to visit "Hannibal" Season 3 for six episodes as the villainous Francis Dolarhyde aka the Tooth Fairy.NBC's psychological-thriller will show Hannibal and Will Graham confronting each other as the TV series enters the Red Dragon storyline.

Those who already read Thomas Harris' Red Dragon, where the characters of the show were based, the new character might ring a bell.

But for those who are unaware of his background, Dolarhyde has a strange way of killing to say the least. Dolarhyde is a psychotic serial killer and earned the moniker "The Tooth Fairy" due to the monstrous size and sharpness of his teeth, which he use to bite his victims. His obsession to William Blake's painting called The Great Red Dragon and the Woman Clothed In the Sun induced him into slaughtering entire households. He believes that his killing spree will help him become the Great Red Dragon.

Another character will also join the third season of the critically-acclaimed show. The Venus in Fur leading lady actress, Nina Arianda will play the role of William Graham's wife, a surprising reveal that will be seen in yet another surprising long-time jump mid-way through the season. Arianda's recurring character will appear in the episode 8, according to TV Line.

Meanwhile, Variety also posted that Gillian Anderson, who plays as Hannibal Lecter's shrink, Dr. Du Marier, became a series regular for the new season. Her character which was previously taken by Lecter after the FBI found out who he really is. Another addition to Brian Fuller's show is the former American Horror Story star Zachary Quinto. From being a doctor to AHS Asylum, Quinto will now be a patient in the new season.

Hannibal season 3 is slated to be released on June 4.
