As the shooter game "Destiny" finally reached 17M users, its developer Bungie performed a noble deed. It killed the "loot cave" just when the game reached its final year. However, the game developer had a good reason to do so, as what they elaborated during a Game Developers Conference held in San Francisco.

Bungie clarified that they never, in their wildest dreams, planned "Destiny" to be a game where players stared and shot a "black hole" filled with unsuspecting enemies that dropped "inferior" loot, based on a report from Tech Times.

The announcement came during the Game Developers Conference where Bungie also reported that the shooter game finally reached 17M users. Add to that Bungie User Researcher John Hopson further elaborated that "loot caves drop less loot per hour than can be earned by playing the game normally," based on a report from Gamespot.

Also, Hopson said that the closure of the "infamous loot caves" would not be an issue with "Destiny" gamers especially those who have been playing the game the way it should be. Then again, another reason for the closure of the loot caves was the lack of integrity among a lot of players.

Hopson said that they have been receiving complaints from gamers that the loot cave resulted to indiscriminate cheating from other gamers who spend a lot of time at the area just waiting from enemies to regenerate. Hopson added, however, that even if gamers collected a lot of loot from the loot caves, these would be of inferior quality compared to the other rewards to be claimed once the game was played properly.

Also, Hopson explained the tight security during the testing for "Destiny" last 2010. During the initial testing of the game, gamers even went through metal detectors and were never left alone during the entire session. Hopson said that the "overkill" would be much preferred compared to having the game leaked before it went mainstream.
