There is no denying on how huge the "Iron Man" series is and how it managed to snag the second-highest grossing comic book adaptation film achievement on its third installment, Iron Man 3. The movie managed to reach a total of 1.215 billion dollars in ticket sales, enough proof that the franchise is indeed one of the top grossing investment Marvel has ever put its money one. Thus it's definitely worthwhile for Marvel to invest in another Iron Man 4 standalone movie, or even on a 5th installment of the franchise Marvel movie.

Tony Star might have seem to give up his red suit in the Iron Man 3, but there are still a lot of tales left untold about the superhero, thus a 4th and 5th installment is deemed necessary. The Iron Man can also be concluded as one of the sought after superheroes in the cinema making him appear in several other movies like The Avengers. Fans can't get seem to get enough of him so there is no turning back for the series in the coming years.

Rumors of a new 'mechanic' for the red suit surfaced earlier this year. Downey will be 53 by 2018 and some critics are thinking that he might not be able to keep up with all the Marvel standalone and mash-up movies the production outfit has in mind in the coming years. But how can the production outfit replace someone like Downey who seems to have embraced being Iron Man, both in reel and real life. Fans are thinking that it is all up to Downey on how long he intends to fly inside the mechanized suit. He's the most bankable star when it comes to superhero movies so replacing him is a blunt suicide.

Downey even revealed in an interview with Ellen DeGeneres last 2013 about the possibility of having a 4th installment for the movie, "I know there's going to be a bunch more Marvel movies," he said. "And they have big ideas of how to do it best and we're in the middle of negotiation..."  Ellen quickly prompted, "So, yes?" leading Downey to reply "Okay, yes!"

So how will the story goes for the fourth installment? Marvel has created a series of interconnected movies and events that will lead everything to the much anticipated "Infinity War." The plot for "Iron Man 4" will most likely be a prequel of the events Tony Stark shared with fellow Avengers that will lead him to the monumental rift in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that will bring all the superheroes in an endless feud with each other.

"Iron Man 4" is rumored to be released on May 6, 2016, and will clash with Captain America 3 on the cinemas.
