Samsung begins upgrade with Android 5.0.1 Lollipop for its flagship phablet (smartphone/tablet) Galaxy Note 4 in Poland yesterday and South Korea today.

The new 5.0.1 operating system (OS) rollout in Poland and South Korea is deemed as the "beta test." Samsung is reportedly pushing the Lollipop update here before bringing it to the international market to iron kinks out, if there may be.

Android Central reported that this latest version of Lollipop will hit countries worldwide in the coming weeks.

In a report, Samsung followed the pattern of Galaxy S5 which began in Poland before it reached Korea, Spain and to the rest of the world.

Google's latest Android version has been reported to be rolled out last year for Galaxy Note 4 along with S5 and Note 3 but to no avail because of the interruption in the code for the Gear VR accessory.

As for now, details about the Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update for Galaxy Note 4 devices remain scant as Samsung has barely informed eager fans about the update apart from the upgrade's announcement be made in the first half of 2015.

Android Central reveals Android 5.0.1 Lollipop features.

  • Brand new interface (Material Design)
  • Improved "TouchWiz"
  • New notifications controls
  • Intelligent notifications ranking
• Device sharing options (Multiple users, guest users or screen pinning)
  • New "Recents" app
  • Complete support for Android Runtime (ART)

Galaxy Note 4 users in Poland and South Korea can manually update Android 5.0.1 Lollipop through these simple steps.

1.     Go to "Settings" menu.

2.     Click "About Phone."

3.     Click "Software Updates."

4.     Click "Check Now" button.

According to Samsung, the update is 1 GB and may take about a month.

Samsung has also just made available Galaxy Note 4 for 5.0 update in many countries. However, the giant tech firm has made Lollipop's interruption system confusing in its handset devices.

Google originally put "Mute" option by default implementation in all Android devices. However, in the next update options are placed for users to choose the new "Priority" and "None" toggles or the "mute."

In Android 5.0 Lollipop update for Galaxy Note 4, none of these can be automatically found. Instead, the pop-up menu for "All," "Priority," and "None" have been removed from the volume slider and are placed in "Settings" menu.

Android Central underscores this problem that it will make no easy to silence phone because users have to go through six taps to reach it. Other way to do it is to hold down the edge volume button until reaching mute level.

For Samsung's line, the Android OS was first tried in Galaxy S5 and S4, and Galaxy Note 3. Since its release in November 2014, Samsung has delayed its update because of its customization adding TouchWiz skin.
