As 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2' prepares to hit theaters, fans might expect a movie spin-off as producers looking for ways to extend the franchise.

According to Deadline, Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer recently revealed the exciting news that the studio is "actively looking at some development and thinking about prequel and sequel possibilities" in order to go on with the Hunger Games franchise.

But as to the question who will write the possibility of prequel or sequel, nobody confirmed yet if Suzanne Collins will be writing the screenplay.

The producers said that they were inspired by Warner Bros. move to extend the 'Harry Potter' series. "We're always looking for ways to extend all of our intellectual property. We've seen that's what happened with 'Harry Potter' and 'The Lord of the Rings.' So we're always looking for worlds within the IP that we haven't explored yet."

It was also confirmed that 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2' will be available also in IMAX. Feltheimer confirmed this, "I'm thrilled Mockingjay - Part 2 will be in IMAX theaters. Fans will now have the chance to see the film in any format they want, which is exciting; we recently saw the 3-D version of Mockingjay - Part 1 before its release in China, and the new level of immersion was really fantastic," director Francis Lawrence says in a release. It will undoubtedly be a major selling point with many fans that prefer to witness all the actions in a larger-than-life setting.

Meanwhile, Josh Hutcherson spoiled the fans that the last installment would be "extremely dark and intense".

In an interview, Hutcherson, who could not hide his emotion over the wrapped of the film, said that the last installment is extremely dark and intense. Many characters try to recover and put up a counterstrike, making some protesting scenes on the big screen.

'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2' hits theaters on November 20, 2015.
