Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey's divorce is not going as smoothly as one might have anticipated.

The two seemed to be getting along amiably enough (well, as best as two people could in the middle of a divorce), but things have taken an ugly turn recently.

First, Mariah Carey broke down during a recent concert in New York. In Touch reports that the singer was performing a show at the Beacon Theater on Monday, but when performing "Hero," one of her biggest hits, she broke down on stage and began sobbing uncontrollably.

A video of Carey's breakdown can be seen below.

But what exactly in her divorce could be causing such a public swell of emotion? We might never know unless we ask Carey outright, but certain uglinesses have been popping out in the news recently.

Classicalite reports that Cannon had previously agreed not to fight over custody of the couple's children, but has recently become "bitter" and is now actively trying to engage Carey in a messy custody battle.

As well, Cannon was recently spotted with their children, treating the kids to a ridiculous feast. People reports that Cannon and the kids ate popcorn shrimp, mac & cheese, lollipops, chicken fingers, and a King Kong Sundae- that is, 24 scoops of ice cream, great splashes of sauce and handfuls of candy, lollipops and even sparklers jammed into the ice cream. According to People, that sundae cost $99.

Afterwards, Cannon bought the kids more candy- Mike & Ikes and jawbreakers, according to one source.

One might have hoped that the Cannon/Carey divorce might end quietly, but with news like this it seems destined to end in the worst way possible. At the very least, hopefully Carey can make it through her stage performances without sobbing.
