Big Bang's Taeyang, singer-actress IU, veteran group g.o.d, and rookie group WINNER bagged the biggest awards in the recently concluded "Melon Music Awards 2014." The event was held on November 13 at the Olympic Park Gymnastic Stadium in Bangi-dong, Songpa-gu, Seoul and was attended by some of the most famous Korean celebrities including idols nominated in different award categories. 

The "Best Song of the Year" award went to Taeyang's phenomenal song "Eyes, Nose, Lips," which is part of his acclaimed album "Rise." The Big Bang member was highly applauded when he performed "Body" and the winning song during the award ceremony. He even received louder cheer from the crowd after his name was called for the award, which was the show's last award.

In his lengthy speech, Taeyang thanked his senior in YG Entertainment, his fans, as well as his fellow Big Bang members, G-Dragon, Seungri, Daesung, and T.O.P.

After the awards show, the singer took to Instagram to thank his fans. He posted a photo of him kissing his trophy and wrote, "Thank you everyone and I love you!"

Meanwhile, the "Best Artist of the Year" award was given to singer-actress IU, who opened the ceremony with the remake of Cho Deok Bae's '80s hit "My Old Story," KpopStars reports. She sang the song with the accompaniment of live instrumentals played by senior citizens. IU also sang "Meaning of You" along with a children's choir.

Legendary group g.o.d took home the "Best Album of the Year" award for their album "Chapter 8." The group recently had a comeback after 12 years of hiatus. In behalf of the group, members Son Ho Young and Danny Ahn received the award, according to Soompi.

YG Entertainment's rookie group, WINNER, received "Best New Artist" award. The idols caught attention as they walked on the red carpet with their fashion-forward attires. WINNER wowed the crowd with their individual members' differently-themed short performances followed by their performance as a group.

This year's top 10 artists who were also awarded in the ceremonies include Taeyang, IU, g.o.d, WINNER, EXO, 2NE1, BEAST, SISTAR, Girl's Day, and Akdong Musician.

Currently in its sixth year, "MelOn Music Awards" is one of the four highly anticipated music awards ceremonies in South Korea, along with "Mnet Asian Music Awards," "Golden Disk Awards," and "Seoul Music Awards," according to allkpop.
