"American Horror Story: Freak Show" is the current horror darling on TV, but don't forget about "Penny Dreadful." The Showtime horror series will return for a second season, and now we know at least one monster that'll be coming back for a second go-round: Frankenstein's Creature, otherwise known as Caliban.

Played by Rory Kinnear, we have the first confirmation of the Creature's return from Enstars, who reports that the second season will premiere in 2015, it'll have an extended run of episodes (the first season had but eight episodes), and it'll feature plenty more of Dr. Frankenstein's horrific creation.

According to Enstars, shooting will commence soon for the second season, and the makeup artists at "Penny Dreadful" have already begun work on the Creature's appearance once more.

This can be confirmed on Twitter, where Sarita Allison, a prosthetic makeup artist, posted the following tweet:

"#makeup Monday with the amazing #rorykinnear #thecreature @SHO_Penny #nickdudman @JamesEHawes @chriswking It's great to be back! :-)"

The last season ended with the Creature needing a mate, and Dr. Frankenstein decides he would craft him one, from the body of the deceased character, Brona Croft.

Presumably, Showtime will be adding new monsters to this monster-filled horror series (usually a solid strategy of upping the ante from season to season- just look at "True Blood,") but as of now, there are no reports of new creatures being added to the series.

However, there will be new characters coming on board- so maybe one or two of them are hiding a particularly monstrous secret. According to James Hawes, director on "Penny Dreadful," new casting announcements are coming extremely soon. Here's what Hawes posted to his own Twitter page:

"More new cast at #PennyDreadful tomorrow. Hoping this Indian Summer in Dublin passes cos we have winter to shoot. @SHO_PR @skyatlantic"

Check back soon for the latest "Penny Dreadful" news.
