Android 4.4.2 update is coming to LG Flex in phases. Users of the stock handset can expect compatibility tweaks and improvements, but individuals with rooted phones cannot get the new patch.

AT&T has already announced the over-the-air update for LG G Flex last week, and now more users are starting to receive the update. The notification panel should have an update reminding you to download the latest KitKat files, shares the article. The carrier did not release the size of the file to be downloaded.

Android 4.4.2 build "D95020f" brings several tweaks and system improvements to the LG G Flex. Android Geeks says it has the "latest Android Security enhancements, LG G Music Player update, compatibility update for LG G Watch, updated APN file, and some other small tweaks and fixes." However, this doesn't add much, critics Android Police, as the article says that most users probably don't use the built-in music app.

The update is allegedly available for all LG G Flex users under AT&T, but the smartphone is required to have one of the three latest updates. The OTA update is available for stock devices only. However, the roll out will be in phases, so not every handset will receive the update at the same time. Also, those running on custom ROM cannot get the update, reminds Android Geeks.

Android Police warn those with custom ROM and rooted phones: "If you've done any root-level modifications to your G Flex's software it's possible that the update could cause errors, or more likely, just fail to flash."

Before installing the update, smartphone users are cautioned to save data files and media. According to Android Geeks, this could be the final Kitkat update for the LG G Flex. This is because Google is allegedly working on the Android L 5.0 release.

Meanwhile, other LG devices such as the Optimus F3 and F6, G Pad 8.3, Optimus F7, Optimus Vu II, Optimus L9 II, and G Pro Lite can also see the update to Android 4.4.2 KitKat soon, since LG seems to be skipping on the Android 4.3 update and going directly to Android 4.4.2, reports Android Origin.
