Austin Mahone, the 18-year-old singer behind "The Secret," is targeting older fans by going for the same vibe as *NSYNC and Backstreet Boys. The pop singer allegedly gained fans from his "side project" and will be coming up with a full-length album soon.

According to Daily Tribune, Mahone is aiming to get some older fans, which is why the singer allegedly made "The Secret" have the same vibe as popular 90s boy bands. Though Mahone is trying to get more fans, it doesn't seem like he has to. Enstars reports that his debut EP "The Secret" immediately went to no. 1 after being released in May on iTunes. The record was a side project and a way to "just get more material out there," according to Mahone.

"The Secret" also debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200, shares Daily Tribune. The EP has successfully gained the singer more fans, as he says people have sent him messages on Twitter and Facebook saying they became fans after hearing his new style.

Meanwhile, his new record will be in the works after his summer tour, shares Enstarz. Mahone teases, "We have awesome songs lined up and a lot of good people I'm working with." The article lists Pitbull and Flo Rida as some of the artists Mahone has worked with in the past.

Though Mahone's songs are mostly "heavy with electronics and instruments," his voice a cappella is also of quality. This is according to Pop Crush, who liked his "stripped-down" version of the National Anthem for a sports event this year. With a powerful voice even without musical accompaniment, Mahone can experiment with different styles and genres. The singer is reportedly open to trying other styles like R&B, though for now, he is considered a pop artist.

Fanlala also shares Mahone singing Michael Jackson's "Human Nature" to practice before his show in a "#TourLife" episode. However, the 18-year-old still thinks he will stick to pop "for the most part."

According to Daily Tribune, Mahone will finish his tour in Brazil in October. Afterwards, the Texas native will be working on his first full-length album.
