Gigabyte's Nvidia GeForce GTX 880 will be released in September/early October. This report was confirmed by a senior Gigabyte official in an interview, Hallels said.

NVidia GTX 880, along with 870 and 860 cards, are the next generation graphic cards being launched by Gigabyte in its much-waited 800 series. GTX 800 series is believed to greatly improve gaming experience as it supports next-generation graphics and based on the second generation Maxwell architecture. The Maxwell chip architecture was first introduced in February in GTX 750 and 750 Ti. These chips since then have become popular in new gaming laptops.

The 800-series will be based on graphics processing unit and is projected to be made using 28nm process technology. WCCF Tech believed that the process's maturity is compromised for high performance ASICs like the GM204-this, despite the fact that TMSC has begun a mass production on the 20nm node. Moreover, Nvidia also completely focuses on GM200, thus canceling the production of GM100.

The GTX 880 comes with an impressive specification, Kitguru.net said, and is based on the GM2804 chip from Maxwell. It boasts of an all-new and proprietary system for cooling purposes. The GTX 880 has a metal back-plate and LED lights. The 880 comes with a GDDR5 memory supported by a 256 bit bus line. The 4GB memory size enables it to handle a bulk of data and it comes with 2560 CUDA cores, which will surely set the device ahead of its competitors in terms of speed.

GTX users believe that the 880 will be an enormous upgrade for graphics as graphic cards raising the bar for superb gaming and visual capacities of computers. GTX 870, which will be released along with it, will be based on the downgrade version of the GM204 core. Casual gamers can look for GTX 860 which is a budget gaming card, and it will be release shortly after 880 and 870.

The overclocking and custom cooling system of the GTX series puts it in to a much higher league of its own when it comes to high performance graphics card.
