If there is one trademark George R.R. Martin is best known for as a writer, it is his merciless killing of his characters. Forget fan favorites, nobody is really safe from the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series creator. Unfortunately, he also recently revealed that he might get around to killing more characters soon.

During a recent event in London, Martin revealed that the body count of his characters will increase as the series draws to a close. Buzzfeed quoted the author saying while speaking with fellow author Robin Hobb, "The way my books are structured, everyone was together, then they all went their separate ways and the story deltas out like that. And now it's getting to the point where the story is beginning to delta back in, and the viewpoint characters are occasionally meeting up with each other now and being in the same point at the same time which gives me a lot more flexibility for killing people."

Scary.

TorontoSun.com spills that Martin was currently limited in killing off his characters because he needs some of them as narrators for certain slices of events in the story. He shares, "I have a large number of important characters who I switch between to tell the entirety of the story, and that limits who I can kill... Sometimes there's only one character who's my eye in a particular location, and if I kill that character, everything going on in that particular subplot is going to be lost."

Martin, of course, didn't spill the identities of the characters he might kill off soon. However, he did give some hints back in an interview with Entertainment Weekly last June about what to expect in the next book, "Winds of Winter". According to him, the art will start with two big battles, involve a tension back at The Wall, and have two fan favorites meet: Daenarys Targaryen and Tyrion Lannister.

So Game of Throne fans, are you really looking forward for the series' planned final installment "A Dream of Spring", or would you rather take your time cherishing your beloved characters while they are still living?
