The Maze Runner writer Noah Oppenheim, Emmy-winning television producer, will soon be joining Shailene Woodley (Tris) and Theo James (Four) as Summit's dystopian franchise has hired him to adapt the final book in the Veronica Roth trilogy, 'Allegiant'.

The final book will be split into two films and the franchise has already announced the release dates for both the films. Allegiant: Part 1 will be released on March 18, 2016 and Part 2 will hit the theatres on March 24, 2017, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

According to THR, because the films are scheduled just one year apart from each other, it makes sense that producers would want to get a writer working on Allegiant while Insurgent is still shooting.

Previously, author of the Divergent Trilogy Veronica was not sure whether Allegiant will be split into two parts. In an exclusive interview with MoviePilot, the young author said, "I heard rumblings that they might and all along I was kinda like, 'Well, it's up to you guys,' but we'll see how they do it."

"There's some natural breaking point so I'm excited to see exactly where they stop and exactly what they do," she added.

However, THR confirmed that Oppenheim is currently signed on to write the third film in the Divergent series 'Allegiant Part: 1'.

In Allegiant, Tris and Four will be discovering that the world they grew up in may all be a lie, and they will have to make hard choices that could change their lives forever.

The Script for Divergent was adapted by Evan Daugherty and Vanessa Taylor and the script for Insurgent was co-written by Akiva Goldsman and Brian Duffield.

Oppenheim The Maze Runner, an upcoming American science fiction mystery thriller film based on the book by James Dashner, is scheduled to hit the theatres on September 19, 2014.
