Will Harrison Ford be replaced by a younger actor to play Indiana Jones?

Disney (which acquired Lucasfilm) in 2012 has not made any formal announcement on the rumored "Indiana Jones 5" movie, but this has not stopped fans and Hollywood insiders from dreaming up some potential cast members.

Ford is currently busy filming "Star Wars: Episode 7." The shooting has actually been delayed because of his injured leg (after a Millennium Falcon fell on him), but he is now recovering, and back on the set.

In an interview last year, Ford said that Indiana Jones being old is not an issue--"I don't think there is any barrier to Indiana Jones being an old fart ... I'm old enough that we don't need [Sean] Connery anymore -- I'm old enough to play my own father"--but would Disney think otherwise?

"Twilight" actor Robert Pattinson is reportedly being considered. An insider said that Disney is looking for long-term options for the Indiana Jones franchise: "Rob is top of the initial list because he has showed his acting stripes away from Twilight. But the competition will be stiff."

Another actor who has been also reportedly considered is Bradley Cooper, but this has been recently debunked.

An article in Screenrant quoted Disney Chairman Alan Horn as saying that they "haven't done anything," so it looks like fans will have to wait.

No release date has been announced yet, but the movie is expected to be directed by Steven Spielberg, and written by Philip Kaufman and George Lucas (characters). Frank Darabont, who wrote "The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones" has also reportedly been tapped to write the script.

The plot has not been revealed, but there is a possibly that the "Indiana Jones 5" will have the same reboot style, like that of the James Bond franchise.
