Apple's iPhone 6 may come sooner than expect. According to recent information, the tech giant plans to have two releases this year. The first iPhone 6 will be in August. The company will debut the 4.7-inch version first before releasing the 5.5-inch variant in September. Can Apple pull off two iPhone releases this year? What can people expect?

According to a report by Reuters last May 10, word from Apple's Taiwan supply chain hints that the company will be releasing the iPhone 6 a month earlier than its usual timeline. Reuters referred to information from Economic Daily News in Taiwan. According to the media outlet, unidentified sources from Apple's supply chain in the region said that the iPhone 6 may be released in August. This is one month earlier compared to the standard Apple release cycle.

Apple usually releases its iPhone series around September.

The Taiwanese publication did not provide additional details about the August release. It did not specify which regions will receive the smaller iPhone 6 first. Starting February, reports about the phablet version of the iPhone 6 have surfaced. Even Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities predicted a phablet series from Apple. Economic Daily News indicated that Apple may have to go for a 5.5 or 5.6-inch version of the device around September.

Although there no details about the availability of the iPhone 6 analysts expect Apple to produce around 80 million units of the device for this year alone. There were also reports indicating that Pegatron will be producing around 15 percent of the total iPhone 6 4.7-inch edition. This is different from Apple's usual move. The company has previously relied on Foxconn to develop its handsets.

Apple's venture into a new tier of the market remains interesting for many analysts. It will be the first time the company will set foot in the phablet competition against longstanding rival Samsung.

Apple has yet to release an official announcement about the iPhone 6.
