The Dating Ring is raising $10,000 via Crowdtilt to set up dates for singles in New York and San Francisco, according to Mashable.

The cross-country dating concept came out after Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Lauren Kay noticed that New York has more single women than men, while San Francisco has the same problem with single men, Huffpost explained.

Kay said: "I began joking around that we could fix this problem pretty easily: by flying single women in NY to SF, and single men in SF to NY. But you know what they say -- make a joke 10 times and it becomes a Crowdtilt."

If the matchmaking startup achieves its crowdfunding goal, it will fly single women to San Francisco and single men to New York. The Dating Ring will set up a weekend of matchmaking activities for the participants. The company will also designate groups for both straight and gay members of the dating community, Mashable explained.

The Dating Ring has until March 14 to complete its crowdfunding campaign, Mashable reported.
