Accel Partners adds Eric Wolford as venture partner

Silicon Valley-based venture capital firm Accel Partners said Eric Wolford now joins its team as a Venture Partner. Wolford served at Riverbed Technology as President of Products Group and was also newly-appointed to Riverbed's Board of Directors and the Board's Strategy Committee, a statement about the appointment said.

In his decade-long stint at Riverbed , Wolford was responsible for leading various functions in the products, marketing and development areas  which helped lead the company in making its public debut and bringing its revenue from 0 to $1 billion, the statement said.

At Accel Partners, Wolford will be collaborating together with the venture firm's enterprise IT and data-driven software investment team. His work will encompass evaluating, investing and growing early stage firms. He will also help counsel the portfolio companies of Accel Partners on issues which range from strategy, marketing and product development, the statement said.

Ping Li, a partner at the venture capital firm said in the statement about Wolford's appointment, "Over the past 15 years we've had the opportunity to work closely with Eric as Accel invested in companies where he played important management roles. Eric has a unique ability to align product development strategy and market needs, with remarkable timing. We have enormous respect for his accomplishments in creating new innovative products and are excited to share that he'll be joining our team."

Accel Partners has made early investments in companies operating in the enterprise software and IT. It has invested in data center firms like Nimble Storage, FushionIO, Imperva and Riverbed. Among enterprise startups, Accel Partners has also backed firms like Atlassian, Bluejeans, Cloudera, Couchbase, Lookout, Scalearc, Sumo Logic, RelateIQ, Tenable and Trifacta, the report said.

Wolford now serves the board of BitTorrent and Jut. He obtained his MBA from the New York University Stern School of Business, the statement said.
