Health device innovator Scanadu nabbed USD10.5 million in a Series A funding led by Relay Ventures. Broe Group, Redmile Group, and Mindful Investors also participated in this round. To date, the company has raised a total of USD14.7 million in funding, according to a report by VentureBeat.

Scanadu is a company that develops consumer health devices. The USD10.5 million series is the company's first traditional venture funding round. The firm would use the new capital for the development of its innovative devices, the report said.

One of Scanadu's products is ScanaFlo, which will be the first device the company would be marketing. According to chief executive Water De Brouwer, ScanaFlo could turn your smartphone into a urine analysis device that would  test for pregnancy, protein counts, glucose levels, and other urine components, the report stated.

Scanadu aims to build more devices that would allow people to monitor their vital signs from the comfort of their homes. The company would take advantage of the rising popularity of wearable health-monitoring technology, VentureBeat reported.
