Bupa becomes top operator after 3 acquisitions

New Zealand's Bupa became the largest provider of aged healthcare service after it bought three rest-homes in Dunedin, Gore and Riverton from the Oceania Group. This was according to a report by published by the Otago Daily Times.

Bupa is an international company that provides healthcare service to aged patients in New Zealand. Its managing director, Grainne Moss, said the three Southern acquisitions of stand-alone care homes gave the company a total of 182 beds, said the report.

In a statement, Bupa explained that it had no shareholders. The company reinvested its money to upgrade its healthcare service for its clients and health charities, the report said.

In June, Bupa also acquired two integrated care homes and one stand-along care home frome Oceania. These were located in Dannevirke, Pahiatua, and Taranaki. A fourth facility in Invercargill is currently under offer pending approval from the Overseas Investment Office, the Otago Daily Times reported.
