Zendesk and Tokyo-based Cybozu had made an announcement that both had entered into a strategic partnership. The partnership would enable the cloud computing providers to boost marketing and adoption of their products in each other's home markets, TechCrunch said in its report.

The terms of the partnership would have the Japanese firm marketing Zendesk's customer service software to local businesses in Japan. Zendesk, on the other hand, would promote business collaboration cloud platform to potential US clients. The two companies would also develop joint product integrations, which TechCrunch said would start late this year.

Zendesk founder and chief executive Mikkel Svane said about the partnership, "We've seen the government actively trying to legislate and make it more attractive for companies to move to the cloud, so you're seeing the beginning of a kind of movement in Japan, which will definitely accelerate the adoption of cloud software."

US software developer Parallels conducted a study, which revealed that the small and medium business cloud service market in Japan grew 25% to USD2 billion in 2013. The market would be reaching USD3.1 billion by year 2016, said the Parallels study.
