Edwin Watts Golf Shops files for bankruptcy

U.S. golf retailer Edwin Watts Golf Shops LLC had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. This was shown in a court filing on Monday.

The golf retailer is owned by private equity firm Sun Capital Partners Inc. In the document filed, Edwin Watts listed out its current estimated assets and liabilities. The amount indicated in the document indicated the golf retailer's equity ranged from USD100 million to USD500 million.

Edwin Watts Golf Shops LLC is a company based in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. It retails golf equipment, clothing, and accessories via its more than 88 retail stores. According to Bloomberg, it also sells its products through eCommerce Internet sites, telephone and catalog listings, and digital catalogs. Its retail stores are located in Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, North and South Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Texas, Texas, Utah, and Virginia.

The case was filed under the name Edwin Watts Golf Shops LLC and Case No. 13-12877 at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in the District of Delaware.
