NEWSCYCLE Solutions said that it had purchased Atex Inc from the Atex Group. No financial details were provided about the deal. Atex Inc is the Atex AdBase advertising systems business. AdBase's roster of clients comprises 220 media companies which include Dow Jones, Singapore Press Holdings, Gannett, McClatchy Newspapers and The Stampen Group.

Atex AdBase advertising would now form part of the portfolio of NEWSCYCLE Solutions. The acquisition allowed Vista Equity Partners-backed NEWSCYCLE Solutions to give innovative software to news media companies around the world. It would also expand the company's operations in Florida, Massachusetts and Sweden. Based in St. Paul Minnesota, NEWSCYCLE was formed through a merger of news media publishing firms DTI and Saxotech.

NEWSCYCLE Solutions also appointed Preston McKenzie as its new Chief Executive Officer. McKenzie was formerly an executive of Landmark Media and Thomson Reuters. He also worked as the CEO of MicroEdge, another portfolio firm of leading private equity company Vista Equity Partners.
