Tennessee bank robbery injures one

A Wednesday morning robbery at the First Tennessee Bank on East Brainerd Road injured an employee. According to a report from news website Timesfreepress, the robber fired two shots into the ceiling before demanding the money. He then shot a bank employee who was later taken to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries. The robber then ran out of the bank. Chattanooga Police said the escape vehicle was a white Kia that was driven by a woman.

No specific amount was given regarding how much the robber took. According to the Timesfreepress report, over USD 38 million had been taken from banks in robberies across the nation in 2011.

First Tennessee Bank is the regional banking arm of financial services firm First Horizon National Corp. According to data from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp, First Tennessee holds the biggest market share in Tennessee. The bank's third quarter revenues also increased to 2% from the previous quarter.
