Etisalat and Du, both UAE telcos, under a new edict, would be allowed to go straight to the market in offering its new pre-paid products without need for regulatory approval. This permission was announced yesterday by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority during the third day of the GITEX Technology Week.

The TRA announcement said, as reported by news agency WAM, there would be an expedited process for products entering the UAE ICT market. The remarks also indicated that improved services provided by the two telecommunications firms would be done under the current competition regulatory framework.

The regulatory agency further stated it would still be monitoring all products after they have been launched to ensure compliance with the competition framework in force throughout the country.

According to TRA Director General Mohamed Nasser Al Ghanim, "The TRA will definitely keep monitoring all products and packages after their release in the market to ensure that they comply with the regulatory framework and will intefere in case of any violation."
